Back & forward button mouse doesn't work

Bug Description

My mouse got also 2 buttons extra for navigate, for example back & forward option in Firefox browser (default).
I think there are a lot people who has a similar mouse nowadays (so more then 3 buttons).

However by default this buttons aren't working at all nor Ubuntu nor Mint 9 RC.

I think mine are working... I don't remember but I believed they worked :D I have an advanced Logitech Laser Mouse so..
