Bug Description

At the moment I'm running Mythbuntu 9.10 with two TT-1600 Budget without any issues. Using Mythbuntu 10.04 for testing is showing up only one card in the backend setup, even if there are two devices available in the /dev/ section of the system.
If there are any logs / further needed just give a short reply.

Howdy, and thank you for helping to improve Mythbuntu by opening this ticket.
Could you please attach your bootup log (/var/log/dmesg)?

Also, a setup log might be helpful. You do that by:

sudo /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend stop

and then

[everything between here and "mark" should be on one line:]

sudo mythtv-setup.real --verbose channelscan,siparser,channel,record,extra > mythtv-setup.log

[mark]

You can replace "stop" with "restart" to relaunch the backend.

What is really strange on that issue is that after I faced the problem mentioned above I restarted my mythbuntu 9.10.
And even if there is the entry of the second card, it's not available anymore. But still there are two adapters (adapter0 and adapter1 ) showing up on /dev/dvb/ . Is one of the cards defective, is it a bug? It's strange.

To improve the bit confused description of the bug I like to tell some more details:
Mythbuntu 9.10 worked correct with both TT dvb-s2 1600 budget cards until I installed Kernel 2.6.31.20 (the second update - the first worked fine). Everey time a new kernel is brought into the system I need to go those steps:

sudo su
cd /usr/local/src
delete the folder s2-liplianin and all of the files and folders in there

apt-get install libncurses5-dev hg-buildpackage (this step is only needed the first time)

cd /usr/local/src
hg clone http://mercurial.intuxication.org/hg/s2-liplianin
cd s2-liplianin
cd linux/include/linux
ln -s /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r`/include/linux/compiler.h ./
cd ../../../
make menuconfig
unselect the folowing module:
multimedia support-> DVB/ATSC Adapter -> Firetv/Floppydtv
make
make install
reboot (or restart services)

until I tried Mythbuntu 10.04 the card did not appear in the backend setup and as I booted into the 'productive' system
(Mythbuntu 9.10 2.6.31-20 (second update)) the card was still in the configuration but not available anymore.

So I'm not sure what happened - is the second card defective? I guess not course it appears in /dev/dvb/adapter0 and /dev/dvb/adapter1 but adapter1 has no frontend - adapter0 has one.
So I guess either anything happend as I installed Mythbuntu 10.04 beta 1 or as I installed the Kernel 2.6.31-20 (second update).

I did some investigation on this issue and as sugested the system works fine using Kernel 2.6.31-19.
What I have done -> I rebooted the older Kernel 2.6.31-19 and configured both TV cards without any problem.
Then I booted Kernel 2.6.31-20 and - only one TV card showed up - so it seems something changed sibńce 2.6.31-20...?
I'm glad my TV card is ok :-)
But it would be nice to use both cards under 10.04.

gocin, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
