Bug Description

Binary package hint: resolvconf

Bug entry started directly from launchpad because of connectivity failure in lucid install:

1. Problematic install of kubuntu lucid daily alternate amd64. Software installation step stopped with red screen error (reported in separate bug report).

2. After reboot at end of installation, installed software packages from a previously saved list of packages.

3. After installing proprietary video driver (using jockey), rebooted again.

4. At this point, connectivity failed. I am able to see router and all hosts on home network. All pings to Internet fail with "unknown host" error.

5. /etc/resolv.conf contains *_no_* nameserver errors, only the boilerplate header text warning user not to edit by hand.
