I have this problem also. Tested Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 alpha (9/30/2009). The workarounds posted in the community wiki did not work for me (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne/AO751h).

Can I do anything to help or raise the importance? I would love to see this bug fixed before the 9.10 release.

Any news about how to enable 1366 x 768 resolution?

I've installed Karmic (standard 32-bit Desktop edition, not the UNR) on my Aspire One AO751h netbook ;
I thought that this "1366x768 support on Aspire One" issue would have been solved "natively" in Karmic, along with the fixes of the Intel video drivers mumbo-jumbo seen in Jaunty.

So I'm trying to understand why the packages that were published here on Launchpad for 9.04 don't work any longer in Karmic :
I've unpacked the .deb files (xserver-xorg-video-psb, libdrm-poulsbo1, psb-kernel-source) that seem to bring the xorg modified stuff to support 1366x768 with the Intel "Poulsbo" chip (which is included in the Aspire One AO751h ; some quick conclusions would be that :
 - "xserver-xorg-video-psb" requires "libdrm-poulsbo1"
 - but "libdrm-poulsbo1" is marked as conflicting with "libdrm2"
 - and (unfortunately...) "libdrm2" is installed by default in Karmic
I've tried to compile the psb-kernel-source part separately as shown by its deb package postinst script, but it fails at some point because some "DRM_..." C structures brought by the OS are not defined as expected by the psb source code... so I guess this is one of the show-stopper differences between libdrm2 and libdrm-poulsbo1 ?
If you try to uninstall libdrm2, well dpkg wants to ununinstall xorg completely first...
So I feel stuck at this point, don't know how to get further.

Don't hesitate to point out if what I'm describing above is not correct ; if I can be of any help, just ask...

I make an upgrade to my UNR 9.04 to 9.10, after upgrading I could not set the screen resolution to 1366x768 in my Acer One AO751h.

I ask respectfully someone to assign to this bug, I would if I could do it myself, but I am just no good in programming. I need the resolution for my screen so dearly. Thanks alot in advance!!!

Thanks Scrummy,

I am going to give this a try when I get home from work. Just out of curiousity, how well, or not do flash videos work? I don't want to get my hopes up but I think we might be able to update the status of this bug.

I had to discard ubuntu for my wife's new acer and revert back to the default Win XP because of this bug. Very disappointed. None of the many workarounds worked.

I tried the workaround but all I got was a flashing text screen. Karmic doesn't use the xorg.conf file any more and if I create one in /etc/X11/ I get the flashing problem.

I declined the lucid nomination because there has not been evidence posted (in the form of an Xorg.0.log) that this bug affects Lucid.

Terje, can you test Lucid when you get a chance and if you still have the bug, update this report via the command `apport-collect /426791`

Hi Terje,

This bug was reported against an earlier version of Ubuntu, can you
test if it still occurs on Lucid?

Please note we also provide technical support for older versions of
Ubuntu, but not in the bug tracker. Instead, to raise the issue through
normal support channels, please see:

If you are the original reporter and can still reproduce the issue on
Lucid, please run the following command to refresh the report:

  apport-collect 426791

If you are not the original reporter, please file a new bug report, so
we can work with you as the original reporter instead (you can reference
bug 426791 in your report if you think it may be related):

If by chance you can no longer reproduce the issue on Lucid or if you
feel it is no longer relevant, please mark the bug report 'Fix Released'

I see this bug in Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS on a fit-PC2i. This is a machine that officially supports Linux, and the spec says it can run screen resolutions up to 1920x1200. But Ubuntu 10.04 will not run any higher than 1280x1024 on this machine.

From https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/109311 it sounds like downgrading to 8.04 may help, but I have not tested that yet.
