Bug Description

I suspended my computer and when I resumed it, the screen would light up, gdm would appear, I can't move my mouse, I can't type anything and the little moon suspend light on the machine is flashing. The machine has hung at this point and I need to do a hard reset.

ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from resuming properly.

@jono -- when you say gdm appeared, was that the normal login box or the unlock screen dialog? If it was gdm, were you at gdm before the suspend?

Andy - in my case, it was the unlock screen dialog. Also, don't know if this has any relevance, but here's the sequence of events:

I suspended, unplugged the AC adapter, then tried to resume and it hung at the same point as Jono.

I am having the same problem with a T400.

Same problem with T400. 2 Updates before it was resuming fine. I think some update broke it.

Andy, sorry for the delayed response: it is showing the unlock screen, as it should, it is just that the machine seems to have hung. This doesn't happen every time, only sometimes. I have not tried SSHing into the machine yet.

Hello all,

I've been puzzled by my suspend-resume failures, and filled bug #578138 the other day. The main reason I did this is because I forgot I had actually reported similar behaviour in a duplicate of this bug. Are you guys still hit by this bug? Is my new bug actually a dupe of this one?

In my case, the first suspend-resume cycle is perfectly fine. However, the second resume will invariably fail. This is similar to bug #532374. Work done there by Colin King pointed to a faulty BIOS, which apparently is being fixed by Lenovo. Could this be something similar?

The only thing that makes me feel better is that, if Jono suffered this, it can't be all my fault for misconfiguring the laptop.
