Bug Description

Intrepid Alpha 6 upgraded on-line from Hardy.

When I tried to set up for a working (3 Hardy machines use it ok) HP network printer I get a pop up window that advises I go to System>Administration>Firewall. I don't have that shown on my system and is not available with Main Menu

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It'd be helpful if you would add some detailed steps to get this particular dialog so the bug can be recreated by another person. I poked around in system-config-printer and was never able to get this dialog. Thanks in advance.

I can't add anything more I'm afraid. The screenshot reflected what happened at the time. I now have all my network pcs running released Intrepid and using the HP network printer without any problems. Maybe just an alpha release thing? I can't recall ever seeing a 'firewall' in Ubuntu and I have not made any changes to my network router. Very pleased with Intrepid speed by the way. It has made some old boxes look positively sprightly!

This bug was fixed in the package system-config-printer - 1.1.3+git20090218-0ubuntu8

---------------
system-config-printer (1.1.3+git20090218-0ubuntu8) jaunty; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/01_delay_autostart.patch: Redirect also stderr of the system
tray applet to /dev/null, as a second approach to fix LP: #153610.

  * debian/patches/40_ppds-py-improved-printer-identification.patch: Upstream
patch to improve identification of printers, especially for the situation
of incomplete device IDs reported for network printers. Also made the list
of printer models more readable for PPDs of HPLIP 3.9.2 and of Turboprint.

  * debian/patches/43_do-not-show-firewall-dialog.patch: Do not pop up the
dialog to remember to deactivate the firewall when activating printer
sharing. The dialog is Red Hat/Fedora-specific (LP: #274179).

I am very surprised just come across this with fully up-to-date Lucid. Please see attached screen capture.

Next I will try to set this bug back to a state where someone will take a look at it again.

I also have this error message in Lucid Lynx. Steps to reproduce :
- Try to add network printer by selecting "Windows Printer via Samba". Put in a Samba workgroup (either non-existent or in my case existent).
- You see the error message

As a side note can anyone tell me where the firewall settings actually are in case this is my problem as I can't add a printer at present.
