Bug Description

If I scan a photo at high resolution in Ubuntu Gutsy with xsane 0.991, the red, green and blue colours are offset and separate. The same photo scans correctly if the Canon tools are used in Windows.

I will attach the two photos (or rather, a small part from each photo).

I tried to submit this upstream, but their bug-tracker never sent the address-confirmation email :P.

This was scanned at 600dpi, the Ubuntu one was scanned at either 1200 or 2400.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same problem with color offset, and have therefore opened the bug again. I have also added some scanned images to help out in fixing the bug, as requested earlier. I am however totally new to bug reporting and Launchpad so the text I first wrote weren't included in my previous comment, and only one attachment was added. Sorry about that.

I will try and upload a few more images (scanned in Kubuntu Hardy Heron with Kooka 0.44) in various resolutions (75, 150, 300, 600 and 1200 dpi). Thanks.

Canon PIXMA backend maintainer, Nicolas Martin, has on Dec 21 2008 committed MP800/MP800R fixes and TPU support to CVS, and flatbed scanning with canon PIXMA MP800/MP800R now works like a charm! Thank you very much Nicolas!

See blog from Nicolas at http://mp610.blogspot.com/2008/04/give-your-scanner-new-freshly-sane.html for instructions how to download from CVS and compile latest version.
