Which applet are you talking about? The quickstarter applets can usually be
configured to point to your openoffice installation.

Current verstion of ooqstart-gnome (0.8.3-8ubuntu1) is not configured to work
with OpenOffice 2.x and it seems it's imposible to configure it to work with
OpenOffice.org2 :(
I think this is because quickstarted parameter was changed in 2.0, it seems now
we need to start /usr/bin/ooffice2 --session-quickstart, but when I tried to
start this from command line it simply started openoffice in GUI mode :(
Btw, why ooqstart-gnome in universe repository ? Lots of people need fast
starting OpenOffice.org2 package.

I've patched ooqstart-gnome version (0.8.3-9) from Debian Unstable to work
correctly on Ubuntu (changed just one character - replaced /usr/bin/ooffice with
/usr/bin/ooffice2 and recompiled on ubuntu breezy. Look for packages at
ftp://ftp.akl.lt/Linux/Baltix/
I've tested this package and it works with OpenOffice.org 2.0.1 RC (backported
from Ubuntu dapper) fine.
Please update ubuntu package of ooqstart-gnome in universe.
